Marko P. (37) was interrogated at the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade on suspicion that on January 16, 2025, at approximately 11:50 a.m., in Ruzveltova Street, he engaged in reckless, violent behavior and attempted to take the lives of multiple people, during which S.P. sustained life-threatening injuries.
The suspect exercised his legal right to remain silent during the interrogation and did not present a defense.
Following the interrogation, the prosecutor proposed to the judge for preliminary proceedings of the Higher Court in Belgrade that the suspect be placed in detention for all legal reasons: to prevent escape, to avoid influencing witnesses, to prevent the repetition of the crime within a short period, and due to public disturbance.
An investigation order has been issued, charging the suspect with Attempted Aggravated Murder.
“There is reasonable suspicion that on January 16, at approximately 11:50 a.m., in Ruzveltova Street, Marko P., in a display of reckless violent behavior, attempted to take the lives of multiple individuals. Driving a ‘Ford Focus’ from Kraljice Marije Street toward Ruzveltova Street, instead of stopping due to a large number of students and other citizens blocking the roadway, he arrogantly and violently continued driving through them.
He then drove onto the sidewalk, proceeding slowly until four people—victim S.P. and three men in fluorescent vests, meant to make them visible to drivers—stood in front of his vehicle. Marko P. then aggressively accelerated, striking S.P. with the front center of his vehicle. Her body was rotated to the left by the force of the impact, first landing on the hood and then on the windshield, where her body rotated backward over her head.

The suspect continued accelerating recklessly, ignoring the fact that S.P. was on the roof of his vehicle. As a result, her body rotated further to the rear of the roof and fell onto the pavement. He fled the scene, leaving the victim without assistance and disregarding her condition.
The three men in fluorescent vests managed to avoid being hit by stepping out of the vehicle’s path, which was deliberately directed toward them,” the statement read.
