Partizan, with nine lives, managed to survive Valencia’s incredible runs and defeat the Spaniards after 50 minutes of basketball and two overtimes in the Belgrade Arena, thus recording their fifth consecutive victory in the elite competition – 110:104.
We watched a game in which Valencia led for most of the time, but where Partizan refused to surrender and it can be said that they pushed one of the best EuroLeague teams this season to the limit on their home court. The Spanish team often built a notable lead, however, nothing was certain.
Partizan’s runs were led by Dylan Osetkowski, as well as the brilliant Carlik Jones. The black-and-whites at times played very solid defense, and in that regard, as always, Arijan Lakić stood out with his steals.
The first quarter started quite disastrously for Partizan, who trailed by ten points at the end of the period. There were many defensive mistakes, nothing was working for the black-and-whites, and after points by De Larrea, the Spaniards pulled away to a double-digit lead.
However, Partizan showed great energy afterward, and with a 12:0 run, the Belgrade team even managed to take the lead with about two and a half minutes left. A back-and-forth followed, so it was only fair that the halftime score was tied.

Partizan also played well at the start of the third quarter, but Valencia managed to switch gears toward its end and pull away to a somewhat bigger lead. Rivers played much better at that moment, as did Key, while the black-and-white fans grew increasingly angry with the referees.
Amid that chaos, Valencia went up by seven points, which was their lead heading into the final quarter.
At the start of the last quarter came more questionable referee decisions, with Partizan fans loudly whistling every call. There were plenty of refereeing errors, and Valencia continued to increase its advantage, at one point going up by +12.
Partizan then made a 7:0 run and got back into the game, but Moore and Badio, with their points, managed to restore Valencia’s momentum, which had an eight-point lead with three minutes remaining.
However, the excellent Sterling Brown scored a two-pointer and then a three-pointer, sending the crowd into a frenzy in just 30 seconds, and we had total drama in the Belgrade Arena until the very end. In fact, it was tied with one minute left.

There, Badio made two free throws, followed by a timeout from Joan Peñarroya. Madness ensued, as Osetkowski made his free throws, and then Badio missed a three-pointer, leaving 1.8 seconds for the black-and-whites to attempt a game-winning shot. Brown missed the two-point attempt, and the game went into overtime.
Valencia again built a six-point lead there after points by Thompson, putting the black-and-whites once more in a position to chase the result.
But Partizan did not give up and, thanks to the incredible Carlik Jones, who scored a very important five points in the final minute and forced a steal, they secured a second overtime in this game.
