“It was smart to take a break since I couldn’t play at the level I wanted,” said Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokić today after his team’s victory against Milwaukee in the NBA.
Denver defeated Milwaukee 127-117 on their home court. Jokić recorded a triple-double in the game, finishing with 39 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. The Serbian center had missed the previous five games due to an ankle injury.
“It was smart to take a break. I couldn’t jump off my left foot, it was very painful. I didn’t want to be on the court and feel frustrated because I couldn’t play at the level I wanted,” Jokić said, as reported by American media.

He emphasized that he is now ready for the final stretch of the NBA season.
“I feel much better than I expected. I don’t want to put a percentage on it, but I’m much more satisfied than I thought I would be. I can still feel my ankle, but much less than before,” Jokić added.

Denver will play their next game at home in two days against Utah.
“Nikola had 39/10/10, setting a new record for triple-doubles in a single season. That’s incredible. He was out for ten days—not because he was resting, but because he wasn’t capable of playing at the level he can. Today, I saw a guy who looked refreshed, explosive, and dominant as always,” said Denver Nuggets coach Michael Malone.
