A 65-year-old Serbian national, whose identity has not been disclosed, drowned in the sea in Halkidiki, the Greek Coast Guard announced.
According to the authorities, the Port Authority of Nea Moudania was notified this morning that the Serbian citizen had been found unconscious in the sea in the Glarokavos area, near Pefkochori.
“An emergency medical team quickly arrived at the scene and transported the 65-year-old man to the Kassandra Health Center. However, doctors were only able to pronounce him dead,” the statement said.
The investigation is being conducted by the Second Department of the Nea Moudania Port Authority under the Central Port Authority of Thessaloniki.
On the orders of the competent authorities, an autopsy and forensic examination will be carried out by the Forensic Medicine Service in Thessaloniki to determine the exact cause of death. No further details regarding the circumstances of the incident have been released at this time.
