A hand grenade was thrown yesterday in the early morning hours at a local establishment in the Borča neighborhood.
The explosion echoed around four o’clock in the morning and disturbed the residents of the surrounding buildings in Borča. Fortunately, there were no injuries at the time of the attack, as the establishment was not open at that time, but the consequences of the explosion are visible.
The windows of the shopfronts were completely destroyed in some places, while in other parts they were shattered or full of holes from shrapnel that flew around during the explosion; shrapnel also remained embedded in the walls and the fence.
Shrapnel even ended up on the walls of the adjacent part of the facility and the courtyard fence. A glass canopy was also destroyed, parts of which fell onto the pavement and the interior of the facility. After the explosion, scattered pieces of glass and damaged inventory remained in the establishment, while the tables located in front of the facility were also punctured in the explosion. One of the photographs shows a large piece of glass from the canopy leaning against the wall, completely riddled and full of cracks from the impact.
Suspicious person circled around the establishment on a bicycle
According to initial information, the video surveillance failed to capture the exact moment of the attack, but the cameras recorded the suspicious behavior of an unknown person who passed by the front of the establishment multiple times on a bicycle, while, allegedly, near the very end of the video recording, a person is seen approaching the facility from an adjacent plot, however, due to the distance, it is not possible to clearly see the face.
According to eyewitnesses, the establishment is insured, but the material damage is great.
Immediately upon receiving the report, the police came to the scene, conducted an investigation, and launched an inquiry. Inspectors are seizing video surveillance footage from surrounding facilities in order to determine the identity of the attacker and shed light on all the circumstances of this incident.
