The international fair South East Europe (SEE) Mobility, which was scheduled for April 24 and 25 in Belgrade, has been canceled because exhibitor companies from European Union (EU) countries believe there is a security risk for their representatives. The reason cited is that Serbia’s highest-ranking officials are labeling foreign individuals as enemies, it was announced today.
The event organizer, the Railway Cluster for Southeast Europe, stated that companies from five EU countries, along with part of the associations of leading European railway industry representatives, withdrew their participation. As a result, they were forced to cancel the SEE Mobility fair.

The companies that were supposed to attend as exhibitors and speakers said that there is currently a significant safety risk for their representatives in Serbia due to the expulsion of individuals from EU countries participating in international conferences. This measure is being enforced by Serbian authorities, and there has also been public targeting of directors of prominent European companies operating in Serbia.
According to the statement, foreign ministries and embassies from the exhibitors’ home countries have warned them that Serbia’s top political figures have, for months, publicly accused the West, Europe, and EU member states of conducting a “color revolution” in Serbia and have labeled foreign individuals as enemies. This, they claim, poses a potential security threat to businesspeople traveling to Serbia.
This year’s SEE Mobility fair had been in preparation for more than a year. For the first time in history, the directors of the three largest European railway industry associations were scheduled to attend the opening in Belgrade as guests. These include:
- International Union of Railways (UIC)
- Union of European Railway Supply Industry (UNIFE)
- European Railway Clusters Initiative (ERCI)
According to the Southeast Europe Railway Cluster, this seriously damages Serbia’s business reputation, as it will take years to rebuild trust with international partners after the cancellation of such a high-profile event.
