Niš’s Medijana municipality announced today that its Communal Inspectorate issued a decision to remove the stage and other illegally erected structures on King Milan Square within one hour. As the structures were not removed within the given deadline, the Public Utility Company “Mediana” was issued an order to immediately remove all illegally placed objects.

Earlier, Dr. Dragan Milić announced on his Instagram profile that the communal inspection of the Medijana municipality had issued an order to dismantle the stage on King Milan Square in Niš, which was erected without the necessary permits.

He shared the decision in which the inspection orders the removal of the prefabricated, demountable structure – a portable stage with a steel frame and installed equipment – within one hour.

This stage was being set up for Aleksandar Vučić’s rally in Niš, scheduled for tomorrow.

The decision was made by an inspector from the Medijana municipality, where the SNS is not in power.

Previously, the leadership of that municipality announced that the rally organizers had not submitted a request for occupying public space.

“The violation of laws and regulations by the SNS group continues… That’s why our city looks like a war zone and a ruin, and our homeland like the Wild West…” Milić wrote on Instagram.

WHAT THE EXPLANATION STATES

The explanation of the decision states that communal inspector Marija Ćirić, during an on-site inspection yesterday (May 15, 2025) at 1:06 PM on King Milan Square, noticed that a stage and accompanying structures were being assembled for which there was no approval, nor had a request been submitted to the competent city municipality (Medijana).

Given that the structures were placed on a public area contrary to the aforementioned regulation and that the owner of the same is not on site, a decision was made today at 8:45 AM, which was also affixed to the steel structure of the portable stage, thus deeming the delivery complete.

The decision also states that, if the structures and equipment are not removed within the specified period, an order will be issued to a third party to remove them, at the expense of the user or owner.
