Easter was solemnly celebrated in the only SOC parish in Colombia, Holy Trinity in the city of Medellin. This year’s holiday was marked by another baptism. At the baptism, the new Orthodox Christian took the name of the Serbian Patriarch Porfirije.
The Easter liturgy was led by Protosyncellus Simeon (Lopez).
He points out that the Easter celebration was marked by another baptism in this Orthodox community, but also by the hope that they will soon obtain a new prayer space, as their current one is no longer available to them.

“As part of the liturgy, the Easter encyclical of Patriarch Porfirije was read. After that, the greatest Christian holiday was enhanced by the baptism of a new member of the SOC who chose his name specifically after our patriarch,” reveals Father Simeon.
He adds that the Easter celebration for the faithful in Colombia had a special significance because they will no longer be able to use the space where religious services have been held until now.

However, he is confident that with the help of believers around the world, enough funds will be secured for the SOC in Colombia to obtain a new temple.
“The Resurrection of Christ brings what is most needed—hope, and with God’s help, the faithful people of our church hope for the support of brothers and sisters throughout the Universe who are in a position to help us so that the Orthodox community in Colombia can get a new temple,” says Father Simeon.
