Young gymnast Dunja Stanojević from Pančevo achieved a historic result at the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship for Athletes with Down Syndrome, held in Sofia, Bulgaria.
In her debut appearance at a world championship event, the member of the “Ruslana” Rhythmic Gymnastics Club managed to win an impressive five medals, writing a new chapter in Serbian sports history.
Dunja is returning from Bulgaria with one silver medal, won in the ribbon routine, as well as four bronze medals earned in the all-around competition and in the all-around routines with the ball, hoop, and clubs.
This was also the first-ever appearance of the Serbian national team in rhythmic gymnastics at a World Championship for athletes with Down syndrome. Dunja Stanojević is also the first Serbian gymnast registered with the Down Syndrome International Gymnastics Organization (DSIGO). Her performance in Sofia showcased exceptional talent, perseverance, and an incredible sporting spirit.
Following this outstanding achievement, the Pančevo Sports Association extended its official congratulations to the young champion, her coaching staff, and her family.
