Students involved in the blockade announced that today at 4 PM, pre-election rallies will be held for the electoral lists they support, or are affiliated with, in local elections across 10 municipalities scheduled for March 29.
“Every change begins with one vote. Don’t wait for change, be its voice,” the rally announcement stated. The events will carry the name “Be the Voice of Change.”
Rallies are planned at the Trumpeter Monument in Lučani, the “Krug” playground in Sevojno, the Cultural Center in Bor, the City Square in Bajina Bašta, and Venac Slobode Square in Aranđelovac.
In Knjaževac, Sivac (Kula), and Kladovo, gatherings will take place on the plateau near the Cultural Center, while in Smederevska Palanka, the rally will be held by the fountain in the city center.
A rally is also planned in Majdanpek, another municipality holding local elections, though the location has not been specified on the students’ social media.
In a statement, the students said that students and citizens from across Serbia stand with their local peers and will continue to do so both before and on election day.
“We will closely monitor the election process. We call on all citizens to go vote, to be well informed, and to base their vote on facts. The decision is in our hands. Let’s be the voice of change,” the statement read.
The students have called for this action with the slogan “Everyone to the Field on March 14.”
In Guča, students said that gatherings will begin at 4 PM near the Trumpeter Monument.
Luka Marković and Marijan Brković announced that the event will include a concert and speeches by Tihomir Stanić, Jovo Bakić, and Gagi Jovanović.
“As a student movement, we advocate for societal change, but change starts with small battles. Generally, when people complain about certain issues—bad roads, infrastructure, electricity, or sewage—it starts with local-level changes. We want to show, especially here in Guča, that it’s important to participate in these elections, that every individual matters, and that change begins locally,” one of them said.
The students also stated that they will travel to other municipalities holding elections this month—from across Serbia.
Speaking about the “Student in Every Village” initiative, Marijan noted that people mostly ask them about their program, what they offer, and how far they can go.
