After the until-recently chief of the Belgrade police, Veselin Milić, was arrested for involvement in the case of a person who is listed as missing after a shooting in a restaurant in Senjak, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, announced the adoption of a law that would remove from service all police officers or soldiers who, as he said, guard tycoons or criminals.
Vučić also announced that a law will soon be adopted under which anyone who, as he explained, is caught performing other jobs outside of what they receive direct permission for from the state, will be removed from service, and that he does not care at all if he receives criticism for that from the European Union.
He also said that he does not understand laws much, but what he does understand is that, as he said, the people have had enough of those who tell them at every turn: “Do you know who I am”.
“Because if someone is capable of committing the most serious criminal offense, and having finished school (the Secondary School of Internal Affairs, note by N1) in Kamenica. And that when he commits the most serious criminal offense, he deadpan sits down and has a drink, while we as a state invested in him. And that you guard the biggest possible – because let’s not have me give that assessment of the biggest possible – or any criminals, people from some other milieu, you have nothing to look for in the police and in the army,” Vučić said.
The state, as he added, will not allow anyone who guards some tycoon or some criminal to work in the police.
“Well, you son of a mother, you can no longer work in the police, in any part of the police, and I don’t care – let 2,000 of them leave immediately, let 5,000 of them leave immediately, go home immediately, you won’t be able to work anymore, and in the army the same,” he said. “Half of the drug dealers have police security”
The state, as he added, will no longer invest in someone’s knowledge from the security system, only for them to work for criminals, and for half of the drug dealers to have police security.
“What are we – fools!? To educate someone at the Military Academy, to educate someone in Kamenica, to give huge money, to invest in equipment, to invest in everything, to pay salaries, not small salaries, and then everyone makes their own clan where they will work with whom, whom they will help, whom they will let off, whom they will let pass and so on,” he said.
Vučić said that this has been happening for 40 years, and that maybe until now he did not have the strength to fight it, that maybe even today he does not, but that he has the will to change it.
“Come on! Half of them know at any given moment who this drug dealer is, who that drug dealer is, so if you know who that person is on the loose, well on the loose because we are guarding him, when I say we – the state, one way or another. Enough was enough,” Vučić said.
