A part of the canopy collapsed at the Novi Sad Railway Station just before noon. Minister Ivica Dačić said that 11 people were killed.
Minister of the Interior Ivica Dačić told TV Pink that 11 people were killed in the collapse of the canopy at the railway station in Novi Sad, and that three people were rescued.
“Gagić, one of the heads of the emergency management department, cried when he saw that a six-year-old child had also died,” said Dačić.
He added that the victims are still being identified.
Dačić added that there are probably more bodies under the rubble.
“This death toll will certainly not be final,” said Dačić.
He noted that 77 rescuers from all over the country are involved in the rescue operation.

Turlakov: Three people in critical condition
The acting director of the Vojvodina Clinical Center, Vesna Turkulov, stated that three people in very critical condition were brought to the Emergency Center, two of them women who were pulled from the rubble and are in the operating room.
“Two women pulled from the rubble are in very critical condition. The first one was resuscitated in the outpatient clinic, and after stabilization, she was taken for diagnostics, which is ongoing, it’s about very serious injuries. The second one was intubated and arrived at the Clinical Center and is in the operating room,” Turkulov points out.
According to her, the first patient who was pulled out is also in serious condition.
“Three people are in very critical condition, two are in the operating room. These are serious injuries, life-threatening,” says Turkolov, adding that colleagues from other healthcare institutions have offered help.
Turkulov also adds that for now they have enough blood for transfusion, but that more will certainly be needed, as these are serious polytraumas.
