Serbian shooter Andjelija Stevanovic won gold today at the World Cup in Munich in the air rifle discipline.
The debutante at major competitions reached triumph in an exceptionally high-quality and exciting competition, and she was one of only two European women among the top eight, alongside Oceanne Muller (France), fourth-placed in the qualifications, who at 23 years old was the oldest participant in the final.
Stevanovic reached the gold with 231.4 rings, the silver went to Japanese Misaki Nobata with 231.2 rings, and the bronze to Zifei Wang from China with 231.1 rings.
-The final was exceptionally high-quality and stressful. I felt a little pressure, considering that for the first time in my career I shot in a final at a senior World Cup, in strong competition. However, I tried not to think about the pressure. The gold medal instills great confidence in me before the next competitions, but above all for my entire career, considering that I am still at the beginning – Stevanovic said after the great success.
Among the Serbian national team members, a high placement was also achieved by Aleksandra Havran, who after yesterday’s seventh place in the three-position event, took the 14th position with the air rifle.
Anastasija Zivkovic and Ljiljana Cvetkovic were also in the upper half of the standings, in 42nd and 65th place, respectively.
