Renowned American journalist Marc Stein revealed this information about the status of Nikola Jokić’s injury.
Nikola Jokić suffered a knee hyperextension late last year in a game against Miami, which has already caused him to miss seven Nuggets games.
According to information obtained by the well-known NBA insider, we will not see Jokić back on the court until the beginning of February, which means the Serbian star will drop out of the MVP race.

“Early February is increasingly looking like the earliest realistic timetable for the return of Nikola Jokić and Cam Johnson to the Denver Nuggets lineup, as both are sidelined with recent knee injuries,” Stein reveals.
Nikola was playing the basketball of his life, pushing boundaries from the start of the season and being the leading favorite for the MVP award, when the injury happened and he unexpectedly lost his chance to claim the prestigious honor.
The NBA has a rule requiring a player to appear in a minimum of 65 regular-season games to be eligible for individual awards, so Nikola’s chances for a fourth MVP title have been reduced to a minimum.
The Sombor native is still officially in the race, but he would have to return to the court by January 30 and play every remaining regular-season game to meet the NBA’s criteria — which is practically impossible.
