AMERICANS MADE A LIST OF THE BEST SHOOTERS OF ALL TIME: Jokić in 26th place, and ahead of him is one Serb!

Steph Curry is the best shooter in the history of basketball and there is no doubt about that. However, how to rank the rest behind him, that is where the trouble begins, and the eminent “Bleacher Report” waded into that task, making a list of the 99 best shooters of all time.

Two Serbian basketball players found themselves on that list – Predrag Stojaković and Nikola Jokić. The legendary Sacramento Kings ace, who won his only championship ring in his late playing years in a Dallas Mavericks jersey, took the 11th position on the list, while the best basketball player of today is in 26th place.

What did “Bleacher Report” write about Stojaković?

Less than a decade after Petrović’s death, Croatia gave us another laser-accurate shooter from distance – Peđa Stojaković. This time, he was 208 centimeters tall.

Thanks to his height and unique, slightly angled release motion, which ended with a very high release point above his head, Peđa was another shooter who was nearly impossible to guard.

He was a nightmare when moving without the ball as well. Peđa could receive the ball from all directions and immediately shoot with lethal precision. The time from catch to release was almost imperceptible.

Stojaković’s shot was so dangerous that in the 2003/2004 season, along with an average of 6.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists, he finished fourth in the MVP voting, and nobody thought that was unusual.

His impact, and especially the significance of his main skill, was that important for winning.

What did “Bleacher Report” write about Jokić?

Nikola Jokić is not a pure three-point shooter, although throughout his career he has been above average from that distance, but the numbers show that he is one of the best shooters of all time from mid-range and the floater zone.

Starting from the 1996/1997 season, since when this statistic has been tracked, Jokić has made 3,164 shots from a distance between 90 centimeters and 4.9 meters from the rim. That ranks him eighth in that period, but that is not what is most impressive.

Among the remaining 99 players in the top 100, the average shooting percentage from that zone is 43.5 percent. Jokić’s is 56.8 percent.

That is a huge difference, but it will probably not surprise those who have often watched the Denver Nuggets over the years. Whenever Jokić enters his signature floater from the paint or pulls the ball behind his head for a Larry Bird-like mid-range release, you almost expect the ball to softly pass through the net in advance.
