Russian forces continue their push along the Krasnoarmiisk (Pokrovsk) axis, targeting key Ukrainian defensive positions with heavy artillery, as part of their broader campaign in eastern Ukraine.
According to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense, troops from the “Center” group of the Russian Armed Forces destroyed a fortified Ukrainian position using 130mm M-46 towed artillery from the 90th Tank Division.
“Troops operating the M-46 towed artillery gun from the 90th Tank Division, part of the ‘Center’ group, destroyed a camouflaged stronghold of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Krasnoarmiisk front of the special military operation zone,” the statement reads, as reported by RIA Novosti.
The ministry emphasized that after receiving precise target coordinates, artillery crews locked in and fired a series of high-explosive shells, successfully hitting the camouflaged enemy position hidden in a forested area.

The operation was conducted from a closed firing position at a distance of over 17 kilometers, the ministry noted. The strike was coordinated with reconnaissance UAVs, which allowed the position to be destroyed with a minimal number of rounds.
The city of Krasnoarmiisk, renamed Pokrovsk by Ukrainian authorities in 2016, is one of the most critical logistical and transport hubs for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Donbas region, located 66 kilometers northwest of Donetsk, according to Tanjug.
Capturing this strategic city would give Russian forces a direct path to the western borders of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) and could significantly aid in advancing their offensive toward the Zaporizhzhia region, Russian sources claim.
As the fighting intensifies around this key urban center, military analysts say that the battle for Pokrovsk could become a decisive turning point in Russia’s current eastern campaign.
