Following the tragic traffic accident that claimed the lives of priest Nenad Mitrić (33) and his wife Nedeljka (32), a major humanitarian campaign was launched to help their children. In a short period of time, housing was secured for the three youngsters left without parents.

The initiative began in the United States and was launched by priest Bojan Banović, parish priest of the Church of St. Petka in Nashville, and his wife Ljubinka, who were also friends of the late Mitrić family.

The campaign concluded yesterday, and Father Bojan and his wife informed the public about the funds raised through a statement, which is reproduced in full below:

“Dear friends, benefactors, and all people of goodwill,

We would like to provide a final report on the GoFundMe campaign for the Mitrić family and sincerely thank you for your generosity, compassion, and prayers.

Thanks to all of you, a total of $345,337.00 was raised through the GoFundMe platform. GoFundMe processing and transaction fees amounted to $11,282.47, leaving $334,054.53 available to the family.

For the sake of complete transparency, a separate bank account was opened exclusively for these donations. In addition, anonymous donors contributed another $2,000.00, which was added to the funds raised through the GoFundMe campaign.

As a result, the total amount transferred to the Mitrić family was $336,056.19.

On Friday, we completed the international bank transfer. Witnessing the transaction with me were Robert Božidar Blagojević, Vice President of the St. Petka Church Municipality in Nashville, and Jason Head, a member of the Church Board and Chief of Police in Springfield, Tennessee. I sincerely thank them for their time, support, and assistance throughout this process.

In addition to the amounts mentioned above, I personally paid the $50.00 international wire transfer fee so that the entire amount intended for the family could be forwarded without any further deductions from the donations collected.

For transparency and accountability to all donors, I have also published photographs of the GoFundMe financial report, the dedicated account through which the funds were managed, and documentation of the completed transfer confirming that the funds were transferred exactly as announced.

Today, I received a call from the children’s uncle, who confirmed that the funds had been successfully received. On that occasion, he expressed deep gratitude and announced that a video message from the children and the entire family would soon be released to thank everyone who helped them and stood by them during these difficult times.

This campaign has become a powerful testimony to the love, compassion, and kindness of people from all corners of the world. Individuals, families, church communities, organizations, and friends—many of whom had never personally met the Mitrić family—united in a selfless act of mercy and solidarity. The Mitrić family will forever remember the love and support you have shown them.

On behalf of the Mitrić family, thank you for every donation, every prayer, and every act of kindness. Your generosity has brought hope and comfort during one of the most difficult periods of their lives.

May the Lord richly bless each of you and your families.

With sincere gratitude.”

The letter to the public was signed by priest Bojan Banović and his wife, Ljubinka Banović.
