After Vesna Tomić was elected as the candidate of the authorities for the mayor of the Municipality of Kula with 20 votes “for”, which means that someone from the list “Voice of the Youth of the Municipality of Kula” voted for her election, representatives of this list spoke to Nova.rs.
“We are currently having a meeting, only when we have accurate and relevant information will we address the public. What we can say at this moment is that the councilors signed an Ethical Agreement and it will be acted upon in accordance with it, if someone yielded under the pressures that have been evident for months now,” say the representatives of the list “Voice of the Youth of the Municipality of Kula” and add:
“The fact is that our councilors are suffering pressures and blackmails, they are closing our companies, our existence is being threatened… In any case, we have to determine what exactly happened and whether it is a mistake, considering that two ballots for the election of the deputy mayor of the Municipality and the Municipal Council were filled out so as to vote against, and only this one is for”.
It was also turbulent before the start of the session, when members of the police and security were in front of the building, and N1 journalists were not allowed to follow the session, although they were accredited. The security workers said that they received such an order from their leader.
The chief of security, however, did not want to answer the N1 journalist’s question as to why they were not allowed to enter despite being accredited to follow the session.
To the journalists’ questions to explain the reason why they cannot enter and that it is a violation of the law, the police representatives responded with a shrug of the shoulders and a raising of the eyebrows.
As far as the new mayor of the Municipality is concerned, she is not originally from Kula.
“She did not live in Kula until two or three years ago. She is originally from Niš, then she worked in Sombor, and only then was she transferred here to us. The only thing we know is the situation in the Health Center, that we do not have doctors and that everyone currently working is retired. Not even the Health Center is functioning, so the question arises how she will lead the Municipality,” Councilor Ronald Šipoš told N1 ahead of the session.
