As RTS has learned from the Ministry of Finance, excise duties have been reduced by 20 percent. The Government’s decision is temporary and valid until April 15.
The Government of Serbia yesterday adopted the Decision on the temporary reduction of excise duties on petroleum derivatives.
At the end of February, the price of BRENT oil per barrel on the world market was 70.58 dollars, and today it amounts to as much as 97.6 dollars per barrel. That is an increase of 38.2 percent in just two weeks.
Due to the rise in crude oil prices on the world market, the state is taking the burden on itself and reducing the amounts of excise duties on unleaded gasoline and diesel.

Excise duties will be reduced by 20 percent.
That means that the excise duty on diesel, which today is 74.04 dinars per liter, will be reduced to 59.23 dinars per liter. That is a reduction of 14.81 dinars per liter.
The excise duty on gasoline, which today is 72 dinars, will be reduced to 57.6 dinars per liter. That is a reduction of 14.4 dinars per liter.
The decision is of a temporary character and it is proposed to be applied starting from today, until April 15, 2026.
While waiting for a new operating license for NIS, the prices of derivatives are for now under control.
Until March 19 the ban on the export of oil and petroleum derivatives is in force, and the Government has exempted butane, propane and auto-gas from that measure.
