Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps begins missile and drone attacks on Israel
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced it had launched “the first wave of extensive missile and drone attacks” on Israel, reported Tasnim news agency.
The statement said the attacks were “in response to the enemy’s hostile and criminal aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
In the past hour, several ballistic missiles were launched from Iran toward Israel; however, no immediate reports of casualties have been confirmed.
Meanwhile, air raid sirens continue to sound across northern and southern Israel.
Sirens across northern Israel
Sirens sounded throughout northern Israel due to the Iranian ballistic missile attack. Residents in the area were instructed to go to shelters, according to the Times of Israel.
The IDF stated that its air defense systems are actively intercepting missiles.
“Currently, the Israeli Air Force is acting to intercept and neutralize threats wherever necessary to eliminate any danger,” said a military spokesperson.
U.S. military plans multi-day attacks on Iran
The United States military plans strikes expected to last several days, according to two sources familiar with the situation.
President Donald Trump said in a video released shortly after the attacks began that U.S. forces are undertaking a “massive and continuous operation,” emphasizing that the strikes are targeting the Iranian military.
U.S. strikes on Iran are being carried out by both air and naval forces, a U.S. official told Reuters.
