In Chicago these days, a decision was made that strongly resonated in masonic and institutional circles – a delegation led by the Grand Master of the RVLS succeeded in preventing an attempt by Kosovo structures to gain regular status and international recognition within North American masonic bodies.

At the general session of the Conference of Grand Masters of North America, the request for regularity by the so-called Grand Lodge of Kosovo was considered. The outcome is clear and unambiguous: the request was rejected.

Unanimously in favor of Serbia

The Commission on Information for Recognition, after detailed consideration, concluded that the territory of Kosovo and Metohija represents the jurisdiction of the Regular Grand Lodge of Serbia, and that the applicants do not meet any of the three key criteria of regularity.

According to sources from the meeting, the decision was made unanimously – all seven members of the Commission voted in favor of the Serbian lodge’s position.

This was not a formality. It was a message.

Defense of principles, not just jurisdiction

In the world of Freemasonry, regularity is not a matter of symbolism, but of principle – legitimate founding, territorial right, and continuity of tradition. Through an argued and documented report, the Serbian delegation clearly showed that these principles cannot be bypassed by political pressure or lobbying.

Despite, as well-informed interlocutors claim, strong and financially supported efforts by the Kosovo lobby to secure legitimacy through various international channels, the Commission’s stance was firm, writes Direktno.rs.

An institutional victory with broader significance

This decision goes beyond the framework of a single association. It confirms that the issue of legitimacy and jurisdiction cannot be resolved through unilateral moves or symbolic initiatives in international forums.

At a moment when the struggle for legitimacy is being waged at different levels – political, legal, symbolic – the decision from Chicago shows that principledness and consistency can win their place on the international stage as well.
