The men’s 3X3 national team of Serbia defeated the reigning champion Spain with a score of 16:12 in the second match of the group stage at the World Cup.
The Serbs are currently at 2/2, since in the first match, earlier in the evening, they outplayed Madagascar.
It was played very defensively on both sides, while offensively there was a need for some time to measure strengths and relax the hand.
Stojačić was the first to pick up momentum and started scoring under the basket, and then from the free-throw line, when the rival committed five fouls. After our team reached 4:0, the Spaniards played better and came to minus one (5:4), and then an equal game was entered.
Nerandžić scored a free throw, and Milutinović a two-pointer, and Serbia had the advantage again (9:6), but the rival breathed down their neck with points from the free-throw line. A few minutes passed in a great fight, until Nerandžić finally got easy points under the basket, that is, until Strahinja scored a new two-pointer, when our team gained the advantage again (12:9).
Nerandžić’s two-pointer for 14:10 came about a minute before the end, when for some time already the rival was reaching points only from the free-throw line and when it was clear that the Eagles were closer to victory.
The last basket for the Spaniards came as a consolation, while our victory was sealed just before time expired by Stojačić with a two-pointer.
Strahinja Stojačić was the most efficient in our team with nine points, Nenad Nerandžić added four, and Andreja Milutinović three, while Nemanja Barać was without points.
On the other side, Carlos Martínez scored five points, Iván Aurrecoechea scored four, and Diego de Blas three.
