The Ibarska highway has once again claimed human lives in a horrific traffic accident that occurred this morning around 7 a.m. near the village of Vreoci, in the immediate vicinity of the Radičević restaurant.
In a head-on collision between a passenger car and a truck, two people were killed at the scene, while a woman and a nine-year-old child with severe injuries were urgently transported to Belgrade.
The crash occurred under circumstances that are still unclear, and the force of the impact was so strong that the passenger vehicle was almost completely destroyed. In addition to several Emergency Medical Service teams, firefighter-rescue units also arrived at the scene and had to cut through the wreckage to reach the victims and the injured.
Doctors at the scene could only pronounce the death of two people from the car, while the woman and the child were immediately taken by ambulance, with police escort, to medical facilities in Belgrade.
According to unofficial information, both injured persons were admitted with severe, life-threatening injuries.
Due to the ongoing investigation, traffic near the restaurant has been completely halted.
Police are redirecting vehicles to alternative routes. Kilometer-long traffic jams have formed in both directions.
The investigation is being led by the competent prosecutor’s office, which will determine the exact cause of this horrific accident.
Authorities are urging all drivers traveling along this section to exercise maximum caution and patience, or, if possible, to avoid this route entirely until the removal of the mangled vehicles is completed.
