An elderly man (80) was killed in a garage in New Belgrade, and the perpetrator of the murder fled the scene in his car after the crime. It is suspected that the motive for the murder was a dispute over the car.
According to information obtained by Telegraf, the elderly man entered the garage in his car shortly after 10 AM, and the perpetrator of the crime was waiting for him to arrive. After the man parked the car, the attacker followed him inside.
According to the first information obtained by Telegraf, the attacker killed the elderly man in the garage with a blunt object.
Around 10:20 AM, the killer, as reported by the media, rushed out in the deceased’s car and crashed into the garage door across the street. He then got out of the gray “Suzuki” car, began taking papers out of it, and scattering them across the street. According to eyewitnesses, he moved with difficulty, staggering, leading to suspicions that he was under the influence of alcohol or narcotics.
About two minutes later, the man got back into the stolen car and drove off in an unknown direction.
A dispute over the car is suspected as the motive
Although it was initially suspected that the death was caused by a fall, the severity of the injuries indicated murder, so the police collected footage from nearby surveillance cameras and began a search for the killer and the stolen vehicle. The state of siege in New Belgrade has lasted for hours, and inspectors have tightened the ring around the garage complex where the crime occurred.
The police are operationally searching for a man who was seen near the garages at the critical time. It is believed that the attacker is of a younger age and used the isolation of the garage passage to intercept the victim.
Intervention units and plainclothes inspectors are conducting raids in surrounding buildings and checking all places where the suspect could be hiding.
“There is no longer any dilemma, this is a cold-blooded murder. The victim was attacked from behind while approaching the garage. Evidence indicating a struggle has been found, and the police already have certain indications as to who the perpetrator might be,” reveals a Telegraf source close to the investigation.
