U.S. President Donald Trump addressed the world after American special forces captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores this morning.

Earlier, U.S. forces carried out multiple strikes on Venezuelan territory, targeting military infrastructure and ports.

Speaking from his villa in Florida, Trump said that the U.S. armed forces had carried out a military operation in the capital of Venezuela.

“Air, naval, and ground forces were used to carry out an operation the likes of which has never been seen,” Trump said, adding that the goal of the operation was to bring Nicolás Maduro to justice.

“This is the largest operation in history,” Trump said from his villa in Palm Beach, Florida.

He recalled that the operation was as spectacular as the “Midnight Hammer” mission carried out by U.S. forces in Iran several months ago.

The U.S. President said that the Venezuelan authorities “expected” the strike, but were quickly overwhelmed and neutralized.

“I wish you could have seen what I saw last night. No American citizen was harmed, we did not lose a single aircraft. A large number of people were involved in the operation, and we recorded no losses,” Trump said, adding that the U.S. military is the strongest and most capable in the world.

“We have the best equipment in the world, no one has it,” Trump said.

Trump said that the United States would “lead the country” until they succeed in enabling a “peaceful transfer of power.”

“We will lead the country until we enable a lawful transfer of power,” Trump said, adding that America wants peace and justice for the people of Venezuela.

The U.S. President said that American forces were prepared “for a second strike.”

“But the first strike was successful enough that we believe there will be no need for a second, but we are ready if necessary,” Trump said.
