US President Donald Trump spoke out and revealed details of the operation carried out by America in Venezuela, which resulted in the arrest of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores.
Trump says that America is now making decisions about what comes next for the Venezuelan authorities.
He warned that all supporters of Nicolás Maduro have a “bad future” if they remain loyal, adding that he will consider opposition leader María Corina Machado.
Maduro and his wife, meanwhile, are on a ship that will transport them to New York, Trump said, as reported by Blic.rs.
The US will also be “strongly involved” in Venezuela’s oil industry, the American president said.
As reported by N1, he added that he spoke with Maduro “a week ago” and told him, “you have to give up, you have to surrender.”
“We had to do something much more surgical, much stronger,” Trump said.
“Maduro was in a house that looked like a fortress”
He stated that they had intended to attack Venezuela four days ago, but that the weather was not ideal.
“The weather had to be perfect… suddenly it opened up and we said ‘let’s go,’” Trump said.
He added that when they captured Maduro, he was “in a house that looked more like a fortress than a house,” with “solid steel all around.”
He also stated that he watched their capture “literally like some kind of television show.”
“If you had seen the speed, the violence, it was an incredible thing,” Trump said.
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife set off for New York after being captured.
