The President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, told Informer tonight that “competent state authorities are ready to respond to everything that is happening on the street.” He also said that the “blockaders’ plan is to damage the country’s reputation and be on television,” and that his side should show restraint.

It should be noted that military veterans who were on the street tonight said that five young men ran out of “Ćaciland” and threw pyrotechnics. N1 reporters said that before that, the first water bottles tonight were thrown by supporters of the ruling party.

“I’m not sure if you’ve seen all the footage yet, they tried to attack. Of course, they are cowards; they came to the fence, then quickly scattered when they saw that the response was ready. It is very important to highlight what their intention was. They used bottles, ashtrays, flares with the desire to set people on fire, but it is not unexpected,” Vučić presented his version, as reported by Blic.

He commented on yesterday’s gathering in Novi Sad, which, according to the Archive of Public Gatherings, was attended by over 100,000 people.

“After yesterday’s debacle in Novi Sad, meaning a significantly smaller number of people than expected, they could not make any smart or meaningful decision other than to attack,” he said.

Vučić also said that “tonight there was an attack on the premises of the Serbian Progressive Party.”

“They decided to attack freedom, a symbol of resistance to various pressures, a symbol of Serbia’s existence, and that is Pionirski Park, or as everyone popularly calls it, Ćaciland. They will never succeed in tearing it down, because such symbols never fall into the hands of those who would tear down everything that is progressive, everything that is normal, and everything that is good in a country. They cannot tolerate democracy, they cannot endure different opinions, they cannot stand the one single place in the country where those who think differently gather. Tonight, they attacked the premises of the Serbian Progressive Party in seven locations,” Vučić said, as reported by Blic.

According to him, support for the protests is decreasing.

“They see that people respect them less and less, they see that people understand their violent methods less and less, disappointed that there was no violence yesterday, disappointed that there were insufficient people or many, many fewer people than they expected. They felt that they had said there would be hundreds of thousands of people, and in the end, even with those people, the ordinary, wonderful people, who came only to express their piety, there were slightly less than 40,000, and those 10-12,000 left a minute later, they didn’t join them for a single second afterward. And that causes their nervousness,” Vučić said, as reported by Blic.

He again claimed that “Pionirski Park is a symbol of freedom.”

“I would like to thank the boys, women, people, everyone who is in Pionirski Park. And I want to say that they are heroes, not just today, but heroes of all these months. And I call on them, first of all, to be restrained, to be peaceful,” Vučić said.
