Dramatic scenes took place on Saturday around four o’clock in the morning in an apartment in Vienna’s Meidling district. Neighbors heard cries for help from an apartment and immediately called the police. When they arrived at the scene, police officers found a 22-year-old man from Serbia with multiple injuries, who explained that the apartment where the attack occurred belonged to an acquaintance of his.
The young man was already asleep when four unknown men strongly knocked on the window, and then broke down the entrance door. The Serb locked himself in the bathroom at that moment, but the attackers tried to break down the door. When they managed to slightly open it, they slipped a knife through the opening and wounded him, causing heavy bleeding. Due to the pain and blood loss, the 22-year-old gave in, and the robbers entered.
A physical confrontation ensued in the bathroom during which the attackers demanded money. In the struggle, the young man fell and hit the glass partition of the shower cabin, which shattered, causing him additional injuries. After taking his money, the four attackers left the apartment. During the incident, the injured man also heard the voice of his acquaintance, whom he believes left the apartment together with the attackers.
Due to the destroyed apartment and blood traces everywhere, a unit with service dogs was called to the scene.
Forensic experts confirmed that the blood belonged to the attacked man. During the search, a large quantity of narcotics was also found – about a kilogram of cocaine and 1.5 kilograms of heroin were discovered in a cloth bag and sewn into plush toys.
The injured Serb was transferred to the hospital for treatment, but was soon after arrested, as it was assumed he was connected to drug trafficking. The next morning, the police found and arrested a 31-year-old Austrian woman, the tenant of the apartment. The investigation into the brutal robbery and smuggling network is ongoing.
