Crvena zvezda basketball players continued where they left off, they created a new miracle without half the team! Saša Obradović’s squad celebrated against Real Madrid in Belgrade with 90:75 in the fifth round of the Euroleague on their home court, thereby inflicting the first defeat on the Kings after three years of waiting.
Delije, Zvezda, and even Saša Obradović could not have imagined a better start to their new love which began a few days ago when Giannis Sfairopoulos left the club. The experienced Serbian coach obviously brought a gold-worth impulse to the team, which immediately yielded results.
After Žalgiris, it was thought that it was a miracle, that such a night simply came, but now the game against Real Madrid has shown that this is not all by chance, but that there is much more to the whole story, and that is the “heart” that the decimated Zvezda team possesses. The red-and-whites cannot count on all their basketball players, Obradović had to rotate a lot and he succeeded again.

Admittedly, Zvezda started weaker, there wasn’t much idea in the first 10 minutes, when practically Cody Miller-McIntyre, with his simultaneous play, kept the team alive. They didn’t hit anything, no one except him, and he scored 12 points without a miss in those 10 minutes.
That was practically the fuel for the continuation of the match, while the entire Arena only fired up during the second quarter when Zvezda managed to equalize, then take the lead and maintain that advantage until the very end of the match.
It seems as if Saša Obradović and Zvezda have found the right combination in his second coaching mandate. As the old proverb says, if the day is known by the morning… This could be an extremely cheerful season for the Zvezda team, especially when the other players return.
