Regulations enacted by Donald Trump’s administration in the last few months have significantly changed the position of immigrants trying to get papers in America, whether they are seeking green cards, political asylum, or work visas.

Immigration lawyers are also caught off guard; they’re not complaining because they have more work than before, but also more problems with the new legal acts.

Miroljub Đukić from Chicago has many years of experience with clients from all over the world, mostly from the Balkans, but he admits that the new measures, as well as arrests and deportations, have complicated his life and the lives of his clients.

“My client, a Serb, was forced to return to his homeland because he was arrested in front of the building where he lived like the worst criminal, by as many as 12 ICE agents, who threw him to the ground and took him to immigration detention,” Đukić tells Serbian Times.

One of Trump’s decisions that caused the most controversy was that babies born in America would no longer automatically receive citizenship.

Watch and listen to what lawyer Miroljub Đukić says about this, as well as stricter procedures for obtaining green cards and work visas, problems tourists can face due to social media posts and participation in demonstrations, and those who stay in America longer than a month, and other current topics, in an interview he gave to our editor Antonije Kovačević.
