I am happy to have had the privilege of sharing knowledge and experience with the greatest living Russian neurosurgeon, Alexander Konovalov, who for a long time led the most prestigious Russian and global neurosurgical institute.”
This is what Professor Dr. Lukas Rasulić, a neurosurgeon and the first Serb to be awarded the prestigious Lomonosov Gold Medal in Moscow today, told Sputnik. The Russian Academy of Sciences presented him with the award for his exceptional contribution to world science.
His collaboration with colleagues from Russia has lasted almost two decades, involving an exchange of knowledge and joint assistance to patients.
“When you receive an award like this medal, as recognition of your professional and scientific contribution, it is an acknowledgment not only for me but also for the Serbian academic community, recognition for the clinic where I work – the Neurosurgical Clinic of the University Clinical Center of Serbia, the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Belgrade, my entire team, family, and friends who have always supported my work, which ultimately resulted in this medal,” the laureate told Sputnik.
He adds that the key to his success lies in the maturation, activities, and education he acquired in Serbia, which has been recognized through his intense international activities and cooperation with experts, scientists, and neurosurgeons from all over the world.
“This collaboration is at the highest possible level. Behind this lies enormous activity that will continue, primarily with the aim of guiding and transferring knowledge to younger generations so that they can provide everything necessary for our patients in the best possible way, according to all global standards,” emphasizes Professor Rasulić.
This eminent surgeon is a visiting professor at Harvard, Stanford, and the University of Tennessee, and is active in the European and American Associations of Neurosurgeons.
He asserts that knowledge is measurable exclusively through its practical application and assistance to patients. This doctor has performed over four thousand surgeries.
In Russia, he particularly collaborates with colleagues from the “N. N. Burdenko” Hospital of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, who nominated him for this prestigious award.
