The commander of KFOR’s Regional Command West, Colonel Francesco Errico, on behalf of the Italian army, presented a donation to the Visoki Dečani Monastery in the form of new floodlights and other equipment for illuminating the nave of the Dečani church.
“For the first time in seven centuries, thanks to this lighting, all the Dečani frescoes can be clearly seen, and thanks to modern technology, the floodlights are programmed so that different parts and levels of the church can be illuminated,” announced the abbot of Visoki Dečani Monastery, Sava Janjić, on his Facebook profile.
The illumination of the frescoes in Visoki Dečani was carried out in 2016 by the company “Devotee” from Belgrade with equipment from the Italian company “iGuzzini,” known for producing special lamps for churches, museums, and cultural monuments worldwide.

Given the need to replace the lights in our church after nine years, KFOR, following last year’s donation for the illumination of the narthex, decided this year to donate floodlights for the illumination of the central part of the church,” Janjić stated.
He thanked the Italian colonel for the valuable donation.
