The Rector of the University of Belgrade, Vladan Đokić, entered the Criminal Police Directorate today shortly before 9:00 AM, where he was summoned as a citizen to give a statement for the collection of information in the pre-investigation procedure for the criminal offense of abuse of official position. He came out after two and a half hours and addressed the present citizens.

“Yesterday I received a summons to report to the police regarding a criminal complaint. I gave a statement where I stated that I believe I did not commit any criminal offense, nor an act of abuse of official position. This act has been attributed to all of us for several months now. Thank you to everyone who is here today, and thank you to everyone who has been supporting me all these months. This is actually a complaint not only against me, but against all deans, professors, students, and against our entire academic community. I hope that it will remain united and in agreement,” he said, reports Nova.

At the end of his speech, the Rector received thunderous applause from the gathered people.

In front of the Directorate around 9:00 AM, a large number of members of the academic community, students, and citizens gathered to support the Rector. They chanted “We won’t give up the Rector.”

Whistles are occasionally blown in protest, but also as a response to drivers who honk as they pass by.

Students are carrying flags of their faculties, as well as banners “Ecce homo. We won’t give up the Rector,” “We won’t give up anyone who is on our side (the good side).”

A large number of Đokić’s colleagues, university professors, including Professor Snježana Milivojević from the Faculty of Political Science, are also present.
