The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, met in Beijing with Chinese President Xi Jinping, to whom he conveyed that Serbia sees China as a sincere friend and does not forget that this country and President Xi were with Serbia when it was difficult, in a political, economic, but also in a medical and health sense, reports Kosovo online.
At the beginning of the bilateral meeting with Xi, Vučić extended his congratulations to his Chinese counterpart on the warm welcome and exceptional hospitality, pointing out that the parade on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Second World War was impressive and left a huge impression, in Serbia and throughout the world.
“Serbia and China are steel friends and it is my duty, first of all, to say that your initiative for global governance represents yet another significant initiative that the Chinese leadership, led by you, proposes to humanity. All three reasons you mentioned, from the greater presence and representation of the global south to the erosion of authority and disrespect for UN decisions, to inefficiency in performing important tasks from sustainable development to facing climate change and what you offered the world through equality in international relations, non-interference in internal affairs and placing man at the center of the world and solving his problems – is a good concept for the future that Serbia will always support,” Vučić said.
He pointed out that Serbia sees China as a sincere friend.
“You, President Xi, were with us when it was difficult for us, in an economic, medical, and health sense, but also in a political sense. Serbia will not and cannot forget that,” President Vučić emphasized.
He expressed his gratitude that, in addition to earlier initiatives and the Free Trade Agreement, trade and service exchange between Serbia and China has never been greater in history.
He informed President Xi that Serbia, together with its Chinese partners, has completed the construction of the section of the international railway Belgrade – Budapest, on the territory of Serbia, which will be open to traffic in 15 days.
He thanked for the investments of the HBIS company in the Smederevo Ironworks, for the arrival of Ziđin in the east of Serbia which, as he said, preserves that part of the country.
“Thank you for the investments and my great request if you can help us with investments in the future as well. We could see a lot here in the People’s Republic of China yesterday, and I would have requests for you on that matter as well. Once again, thank you and congratulations on the 80th anniversary of the exceptional victory. We know how much China has suffered, that it has made tens of millions of victims and how bravely the Chinese people fought for freedom. Please accept our sincere congratulations,” Vučić told the President of China.
The meeting between Vučić and Xi was attended by members of the Serbian delegation, Minister of Internal and Foreign Trade Jagoda Lazarević, Minister without portfolio for international economic cooperation and social position of the church at home and abroad Nenad Popović, Assistant Minister of Defense for Material Resources Nenad Miloradović, and President of the National Council for Coordination with the Russian Federation and the PR of China Tomislav Nikolić.
Before the meeting with Xi, Vučić spoke with a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Zhao Leji.
They discussed the comprehensive strategic partnership between Serbia and China, and cooperation based on mutual trust, sincere friendship, and a shared vision of development.
“I particularly emphasized that Serbia highly values the support and respect that China shows towards our country and our people, as well as the consistent commitment to the preservation of international law and the principle of sovereignty. We exchanged opinions on further strengthening political dialogue, improving economic cooperation, infrastructure projects, and investments that bring progress and well-being to the citizens of Serbia. I thanked China for the help and understanding it provides to Serbia, and I am convinced that with joint efforts we will continue to deepen our relations for the benefit of both countries,” Vučić wrote on Instagram.
