President Aleksandar Vučić stated today that SPS is a partner of SNS and that the Progressives have a correct relationship with the president of the Socialists, Ivica Dačić, but that SNS, as he said, “doesn’t call anyone and doesn’t beg anyone” when it comes to coalitions for the next elections.

Commenting on the statements of the suspended SPS official Branko Ružić regarding the elections, Aleksandar Vučić said that he believes Ružić will be satisfied, “as in all elections so far.” When asked if Ružić commented on the SNS and SPS coalition, making, among other things, a parallel with the call to Chetniks in 1945, Vučić emphasized that they don’t call anyone and don’t beg anyone.

Ružić, namely, told the newspaper “Danas” that he was “against the option of SPS being on the SNS list because it would mean that party sovereignty is subordinated to the SNS list.” When asked if Vučić would ask for SPS to be on the SNS list, what his stance on that would be, Ružić replied:

“My stance as an SPS member has long been known. I am against that option because it would mean that for the first time during 13 years of cooperation, we would subordinate our party sovereignty to the SNS list in parliamentary elections. And whether Vučić will ask for that in his capacity as an SNS member, I truly don’t know. As cruel as it sounds, ‘you don’t join the Chetniks in ’45’,” he said.

Reacting to Ružić’s statement, but also answering the question “will Zlatko Kokanović be arrested since he threatened bloodshed if there are no elections,” Vučić told reporters today that “they don’t call anyone and don’t beg anyone.”

“And he never belonged to either the Chetniks or the Partisans, to anyone who would oppose the occupier. Another movement, Balli Kombëtar, was formed in 1943 in Kosovo, he could go to that movement, but he could never go to these other movements that fought against fascists and were patriotic, and many like him. It’s possible that they are big favorites – Ružić and (Zlatko) Kokanović. They would ban people of origin from the other side of the Drina from being in Serbia, even from voting and having a say,” Vučić said.
