U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Ukraine could one day become Russian and reiterated that the United States has invested hundreds of billions of dollars in the country, expecting rare minerals from Ukraine in return.
“There may be a deal between Russia and Ukraine, or maybe there won’t be. Ukraine could one day be Russian, or maybe not,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News.
According to him, Ukraine possesses incredibly valuable land when it comes to rare minerals, oil, and gas, and the U.S. wants to ensure the money America has invested in Ukraine is secured, given that Washington, as he claims, has spent hundreds of billions of dollars in the country.

“We want that money back. I told Ukraine that we want an equivalent return for that investment, in the form of $500 billion worth of rare minerals, to which Kyiv, essentially, agreed,” Trump stated.
