US President Donald Trump today drew a parallel between the current Iran-Israel conflict and the conflict between Serbia and the self-proclaimed Kosovo during his first term, which, he stated, threatened to escalate into war but was prevented by him.
“During my first term, Serbia and Kosovo were fighting viciously, as they had been for decades, and this long-running conflict threatened to turn into a war. I stopped it. (Former US President Joseph) Biden has hurt the longer-term prospects with some very stupid decisions, but I’ll fix it again!” Trump stated on his social media platform, Truth Social.
Drawing Parallels: Past Successes and Future Goals
Trump emphasized that Iran and Israel should reach an agreement and will reach one, stating that he similarly persuaded India and Pakistan to reach an agreement. In that case, he said he used trade with the United States “to bring reason and cohesion to talks with two great leaders who were able to make a quick decision and stop the conflict.”
“Another case is Egypt and Ethiopia, and their fight over a massive dam affecting the magnificent Nile River. Peace prevails for now, at least for now, thanks to my intervention, and it will remain so! Similarly, we will soon have peace between Israel and Iran! Many calls and meetings are being held now. I do a lot and never get credit for anything, but that’s okay, the people understand. Let’s make the Middle East great again,” Trump concluded.
