Representative trade unions of education employees have decided that education employees will stop working on Friday, as a sign of solidarity and support for students in their fight for a better and more just society, according to a statement.
“At the same time, our representatives will visit students at faculties and deliver food and supplies,” it adds. It is stated that from December 23 to 27, a strike will be carried out throughout Serbia due to non-compliance with the signed Protocol.
“After consulting with the membership, the representative trade unions will propose a complete work stoppage. The decision would be made at a special session and would be implemented from January 28, 2025, until the demands are met,” it is emphasized.

The unions’ demands include the dismissal of the entire leadership of the Ministry of Education, fulfillment of the material requirements stipulated by the signed Protocol for preschool institutions, primary and secondary schools, student dormitories, and higher education, signing amendments and supplements to the Special Collective Agreement for employees in primary and secondary schools and student dormitories, as well as a reduction in administration.
The decision was signed by representatives of the Union of Trade Unions of Education Workers of Serbia, the Education Union of Serbia, the Branch Union of Education Workers of Serbia Nezavisnost, and the Union of Workers in Education of Serbia.
