At least three people, including the attacker, died today, and about 20 people were injured in a shooting at a Catholic school in the southern part of Minneapolis in the U.S. state of Minnesota, a U.S. Department of Justice official announced.
According to CBS News, citing sources, the attacker committed suicide with a firearm.
A large number of emergency service personnel are on the scene, on 54th Avenue between Harriet and Garfield streets.

The attack occurred this morning local time, and according to the school schedule, a mass for all students was planned for 8:15 a.m., CBS News writes.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz said he was informed about the incident.
“I am praying for our children and teachers whose first week of school was marked by this terrible act of violence,” Walz stated.
Members of several agencies are on the ground, including the FBI, the state police, and the Minneapolis city police.
