SHAMEFUL! War crimes prosecutor allegedly used official card to pay for perfumes, roast meat, sweets and hotel rooms!

War Crimes Prosecutor Snežana Stanojković was questioned at the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime as part of a preliminary investigation into suspected possible misuse of the official bank card of the War Crimes Prosecutor’s Office, Nova.rs has learned.

Stanojković is suspected of having used the official bank card to pay for personal expenses over an extended period of time. The transactions allegedly included payments for fuel, roast meat, pljeskavicas, perfumes, pastries at bakeries, cakes at pastry shops, as well as private lunches, hotel rooms and bills at duty-free shops.

The preliminary investigation at the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime (JTOK) concerns allegations that the official bank card was used for personal purposes, and it was within the framework of this investigation that Stanojković was questioned at the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime (JTOK).

It concerns a preliminary investigation based on a criminal complaint filed against Stanojković by lawyer Dušan Bratić.

However, details of the questioning are not known.

What was uncovered at the time?

Danas previously reported that a group of employees of the War Crimes Prosecutor’s Office had filed a complaint with the Agency for Prevention of Corruption against longtime prosecutor of that office Snežana Stanojković.

Citing documentation that the War Crimes Prosecutor’s Office provided to a group of five prosecutors in response to a request for access to information of public importance, prosecutor Snežana Stanojković allegedly used the Prosecutor’s Office’s official card for various personal expenses.

According to documentation reviewed by Danas, the card, opened at NLB Komercijalna Banka, was used, among other things, for purchases at jewelry stores, household appliances at Tehnomanija, cash withdrawals from ATMs, as well as fuel payments for a private car. She also made payments at supermarkets, a flower shop, roast-meat shops, restaurants…

In total, the amount was several hundred thousand dinars.

She denied the allegations

It is also interesting that prosecutor Stanojković denied allegations at the beginning of July this year concerning the use of an apartment provided to her by the Ministry of Justice.

In her response, it was stated that Snežana Stanojković rejects the claims made in the article, emphasizing that the apartment provided by the Ministry of Justice that she uses is not an official apartment, but an apartment allocated to address the housing needs of employees.

She also denied allegations concerning the improper use of the card.

According to the statement, on June 15, 2021, the Ministry of Justice issued a decision granting Stanojković the right to use the apartment and protect it from unlawful occupation by third parties, until the competent authority makes a final decision on its allocation. Therefore, the response claims that the apartment is not subject to the provisions of the Law on Prevention of Corruption concerning the use of official apartments.

Stanojković also stated that, as a public prosecutor, she regularly submitted reports to the Agency for Prevention of Corruption regarding her assets and income.

The response states that the information was published without a complete verification and consideration of all circumstances, which is why Stanojković contacted the Agency for Prevention of Corruption and the Ministry of Justice to gain access to any potential cases concerning the apartment in question.
