Students in the blockade of the Faculty of Mathematics in Belgrade boasted on their Instagram profile about the great success of their colleague Miloš Milićev, a fourth-year student of Theoretical Mathematics.
He won a gold medal and a special first prize at the prestigious student mathematics competition, IMC 2025. This is a competition that gathers more than 400 competitors from over 50 countries, from 70 leading universities around the world.
The organizer of the competition is University College London (UCL), and this year it was held in Bulgaria.
The International Mathematics Competition for University Students (IMC) is a prestigious international mathematics competition intended for undergraduate students of mathematics and related fields. It is held once a year, usually during the summer, and lasts for two days. Each day, students solve 5 problems from different areas of mathematics over 5 hours. The problems cover areas such as algebra, analysis, geometry, combinatorics, and number theory.
At the awards ceremony, Miloš, along with the flag, also raised his university index, as a sign of the months-long student struggle, wrote the students of the Faculty of Mathematics in the blockade.
