After the scandalous news that FK Laktaši refused to extend the contract with footballer Dejan Bosančić after he was diagnosed with testicular cancer, the football club issued a statement.

This Tuesday in the region was marked by the scandalous decision of FK Laktaši not to extend the contract with Dejan Bosančić because the footballer was diagnosed with testicular cancer.

The club also published its decision on its official social media profiles, but they withdrew it after people condemned their action.

After receiving a lot of negative comments due to their action, they again issued a statement to try to “explain” their action.

“Dejan was a very important link in our club since the club entered the 1st league of the RS. He made a significant contribution and we are extremely grateful to him for that.

But also, the club was at every moment more than fair to him, from financial conditions, premiums 2 to 3 times a year, bonuses for winning first and second place, paying additional costs personally for his apartment and everything the player asked of us.

On several occasions, Dejan had injuries both at the beginning when he came and two years ago when he did not play for 2-3 months, and each time the club was with him for treatment, therapies, and all other costs.

Since the new management has been here, FK Laktaši has been the most regular in fulfilling its obligations towards the players of all clubs in the first league and pays salaries even before the 1st of the month, and we have never owed a single mark to any player, which is a common occurrence today.

Dejan played his last match on May 24 of this year, and with the payment of his salary at the end of May, his “amateur-annual” (not a professional contract) expired, and there was no talk of extending the contract, and his illness was diagnosed in mid-June.

Immediately after the diagnosis of the illness, the club’s management was in contact with the former player, in contact with the doctors, and offered financial assistance when he pointed out that he had expenses and that it was necessary for him at a given moment, and that always stands.

The posts on the networks are extremely unfair to the club, which has provided affirmation in previous years to many players who go to the Premier League and abroad for better conditions, which is questionable whether it would have otherwise been realized, and we are honored that we could help, and in return, the club did not have any earnings from any player like other clubs in BiH,” FK Laktaši announced.

What the club originally published

The initial news about the club’s decision not to extend the contract with Bosančić was published on social networks. It read:

“Dejan Bosančić will not wear the club’s jersey in the new season. Our midfielder was diagnosed with testicular cancer at the end of the season, which is why his contract was not extended since it is not known when he will return to the field.

He arrived in Laktaši from Borac in 2022 and has played 74 matches for our team, scored five goals, and recorded 30 assists.

He carried Laktaši through the First League all the way to the championship title, into which he built his knowledge, energy, and health. We thank Dejan for everything he has given to this club and wish him a speedy recovery.

Dejo, we are all with you!”

However, what is once posted on the Internet, remains on it forever. A screenshot of the post flooded all social networks even after it was deleted, and Dejan Bosančić also posted it on his Instagram story with the comment:

-This cannot be deleted.

Bosančić started his career in Željezničar from Banja Luka, and in addition to Laktaši, he also played for Borac from Banja Luka and Leotar from Trebinje.
