The lawyers of the President of Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, this morning submitted an appeal to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina against the first-instance verdict sentencing him to one year in prison, Raport has learned.

The appeal was submitted by Dodik’s lawyer, Goran Bubić.

On February 26, the Court of BiH handed down a first-instance verdict finding Milorad Dodik guilty of failing to implement the decisions of the High Representative and sentenced him to one year in prison, along with a six-year ban on performing the duties of the President of Republika Srpska, starting from the day the verdict becomes final.

In the same case, acting director of the “Official Gazette” of Republika Srpska, Miloš Lukić, was acquitted of the charges.

According to Raport’s sources, Dodik’s lawyers are seeking a full acquittal. Dodik had previously stated that he would not file an appeal, as he does not recognize the Court or the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.
