A powerful explosion shook Belgrade’s Zvezdara neighborhood at around 3 a.m. last night after an as-yet unidentified individual threw an explosive device.

According to Telegraf’s initial information, the device was most likely an M-75 hand grenade.

Police questioned A.O. (24), a resident of the building in front of which the explosion occurred, who is already known to law enforcement and has previous convictions.

In his statement to the police, he said he believes the grenade was intended for him and was thrown directly onto his balcony. According to his account, the device bounced off the balcony and landed on the sidewalk between parked vehicles, where it exploded.

According to our information, the young man also stated that his car had been set on fire just a month ago, leading him to believe that he has once again been targeted by the same attackers.

Shrapnel damages three vehicles, businesses, and building facade

The force of the blast caused significant material damage to nearby buildings and parked vehicles.

In addition to three damaged vehicles, nearby businesses also sustained damage, with storefront windows shattered. Visible damage was also reported to the building facade and the entrance door of a neighboring residential building.

Most importantly, no one was injured in the powerful explosion.

Police and the competent prosecutor’s office are intensively investigating all the circumstances of the case, as well as working to identify and locate the person who threw the grenade.
