Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dačić said today that 34 firefighter-rescuers from the Serbian Ministry of the Interior, supported by a three-member medical team, are working shoulder to shoulder with their French colleagues to battle wildfires in the Var department in southern France, proving every day that the trust placed in them was well deserved and demonstrating that members of Serbia’s Ministry of the Interior can always be relied upon when it matters most.
“At the wildfire site, where more than 1,600 French firefighters have been deployed, our personnel are carrying out tasks assigned by the French command, ranging from extinguishing remaining hotspots to creating firebreaks that prevent the further spread of the blaze,” Dačić wrote on his Instagram profile.
He emphasized that, as part of a large international team, Serbian firefighter-rescuers, through their knowledge, discipline, and professionalism, continue to justify the confidence placed in them every day and demonstrate that members of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Serbia can always be counted on in the most difficult circumstances.
“When members of the Ministry of the Interior put on the uniform of Serbia, they carry with them more than just equipment. They carry the trust, responsibility, and reputation of their country. And the finest image of Serbia is created when it is written through their deeds,” Dačić said.
