Partizan basketball players defeated Crvena Zvezda in Belgrade Arena in the 11th round of the EuroLeague with a score of 89:77.

The eternal derby, which lived up to all expectations in every sense, brought us a real show and ultimately a celebration for the home team in Belgrade Arena. Crvena Zvezda players achieved victory after a better second half.

Before the start of the match, there was a fiery atmosphere, we knew that there would be fans of both teams in the hall, after an agreement and 1,000 tickets given to Grobari. It was interesting even an hour before the start of the match, when teasing began on both sides, and all of that was transferred to the court.

The home team opened the match better and after the first minute, with three-pointers from Nemanja Nedović and points from UroÅ” PlavÅ”ić, they led 5:0. However, the initial momentum didn’t indicate anything, because with a series of seven points, Partizan immediately managed to “escape” and thus not allow a high deficit in the early stages.

Only Nikola Kalinić briefly stopped the charging Brandon Davis, who with two three-pointers and seven of the team’s first ten points on the scoreboard set the guests’ advantage to 10:7.

Zvezda then tightened their defense, which stopped the black and white’s shots, who, with constant offensive rebounds, still found important points for themselves. On the other hand, Partizan players fired as many as sixteen three-point shots in this quarter, which tells you enough about how the red and whites defended the paint.

The central figure at those moments was Filip PetruŔev, who got a chance in the middle of the first quarter and by the end of it had scored nine points, and at moments when the rival struggled on offense, Zvezda managed to turn the game around with a three-pointer by Giedraitis at the end of the quarter.

At the beginning of the second ten minutes, the team from Mali Kalemegdan gained the biggest advantage in the first half of four points, and returned it in one moment after a three plus one sequence by MiloÅ” Teodosić. They held it for a full three minutes, and then Karlik Jones appeared on the court.

With the score at 31:29 for the home team, the guests started their series, and the aforementioned playmaker showed what he does best – shooting from mid-range.
Thus, Karlik connected eight points in a relatively short interval, and before he ended his series, dunks by Ife Lundberg and Tairik Jones brought Partizan a seven-point advantage (39:32).

The guest looked good in those attacks, tightened up their defense to the maximum and managed to repel all serious attacks by the home team before the break (45:39). Partizan was sharp at the beginning of the second half and it was immediately seen after the first points of Isaiah Mike, who was Željko Obradović’s surprise.

An important moment was the successful challenge of the black-and-white coach, when he saw that Nedović had played with the ball before the ball went out. From that moment, a real series began.

When Isaac Bonga hit a three-pointer, Partizan reached a double-digit difference for the first time (50:39), and the series went all the way to 55:41 and Mike’s points from beyond the 6.75-meter line.

Important moments in Zvezda’s return in this part of the clash took place after five minutes, when Janis Sferopoulos asked for a challenge twice, once successfully, but the home team’s streak followed only three minutes before the end of the quarter.

Partizan reached a lead of 61:47, but then only scored two more points from three-pointers. A basket and an additional free throw by Isaiah Canaan, and then PetruŔev returned the team to within ten points (63:55).

However, Zvezda, on the wings of that series, failed to do absolutely anything. The way the last quarter opened indicated that it would be difficult to change anything on the scoreboard, and that proved to be true.

When Branko Lazić gave the ball directly into Tairik’s hands, and then Lundberg and Nilikin brought 71:57, it could be guessed what would follow.

Karlik Jones finished the match with 21 points, six rebounds, and four assists, while Ife Lundberg scored 13 (six rebounds and four assists) and Isaiah Mike scored 13. Tairik Jones added 12 with six rebounds. Filip PetruÅ”ev, on the other hand, had 20 points and eight rebounds, Nemanja Nedović had 11, and Rokas Giedraitis had 10.

After this match, Zvezda has a score of 5-6, Partizan 3-8.
