The Serbian National Council of Kosovo and Metohija from Gračanica, the Serbian National Forum from Gračanica, and the Homeland People’s Movement of Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija, based in the north, will organize a roundtable in Belgrade tomorrow, where they will call on Serbs from Kosovo to support the “Students Win” list in the upcoming parliamentary elections in Serbia.
The roundtable, entitled “Kosovo and Metohija in Light of the Upcoming Parliamentary Elections – Why Should Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija Support the Students’ List – Students Win?”, will be held at the M Hotel, starting at 11 a.m.
The three organizations describe the upcoming elections as a “great opportunity” for a change of government in Serbia, which they accuse of having brought Serbs in Kosovo into what they call a “catastrophic position” through its policies over the past 14 years.
At the same time, they claim that pressure on voters in Kosovo has intensified ahead of the elections and that vote-rigging and falsification of election results are being prepared.
“This must be pointed out continuously, and the eyes of manipulated Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija must be opened, so that they can be prepared to take on the role of protagonists of democratic and fair elections and thereby defend their electoral will,” the statement reads.
The organizers say the aim of the gathering is to encourage Serbs from Kosovo and highlight the importance of their electoral choices.
Representatives of the student movement, political parties and non-governmental organizations are expected to attend, along with analysts from Belgrade and Kosovo.
These three organizations previously jointly supported the student Memorandum on Kosovo. Meanwhile, those who have publicly announced their support for the “Students Win” list from Kosovo include, among others, the Kosovo Alliance, the Serbian People’s Movement, the “North for All” Citizens’ Initiative, the Serbian National Council of Kosovo and Metohija, Serbian Democracy, as well as Nenad Rašić and his party, For Freedom, Justice and Survival.
