The Basic Court of the provisional institutions in Pristina on Tuesday imposed fines of €700 on each of the 36 people detained at Gazimestan on Sunday following the memorial service for the Kosovo heroes. Those who do not possess documents issued by the provisional institutions will also be expelled from Kosovo and Metohija.

According to the court’s explanation, despite warnings from the authorities, the defendants allegedly chanted the slogan “Kosovo is Serbia” and displayed the three-finger salute.

Each of the convicted individuals was fined €700 and is required to pay the penalty within 15 days after the verdict becomes final.

Those who did not possess Kosovo-issued identification documents were also ordered to be expelled from Kosovo and banned from re-entering the territory for three years.

At a hearing held on Monday, all 36 detainees pleaded not guilty. After being released on Sunday evening, their identification documents had been temporarily confiscated as a guarantee that they would appear before the court.

The so-called Kosovo Police detained 36 people at Gazimestan on Sunday, including one minor. They were released after questioning. Among those detained were residents of Kosovo and Metohija, as well as citizens from Montenegro and central Serbia.

Following the memorial service at Gazimestan on Vidovdan, members of the so-called Kosovo Police formed a cordon at the exit of the memorial complex, detaining individuals who were subsequently transferred to Pristina.
