During yesterday’s blockade organized by students of the Graphic School in New Belgrade, an incident occurred where, as seen in the videos shared online, a man pulled a knife on the students. His identity was soon revealed on social media. The man in question is Ratko Adžić, a former official of Republika Srpska, who testified at the trial of General Ratko Mladić.
During the student blockade in New Belgrade, graduating students from the Graphic School protested and paid tribute to victims at the Railway Station in Novi Sad, and the incident unfolded.
As captured on social media videos, a man, angered by the blockade, was seen holding a knife. The footage shows citizens confronting and insulting him, forcing him to leave the scene.
Shortly after, the man was identified as Ratko Adžić.

Who is Adžić?
Ratko Adžić, a retired teacher from the Philological High School in Belgrade, was the President of the so-called Serbian Municipality of Ilijaš, the President of the Crisis Headquarters, and the commander of Serbian security forces in the area from 1991 onwards.
According to Balkan Transitional Justice, Adžić testified at the trial of Republika Srpska Army General Ratko Mladić at the Hague Tribunal. He admitted that non-Serb civilians in Ilijaš were “detained after combat operations” but denied committing war crimes.

Some media outlets have linked Adžić to war crimes in the village of Lješevo, where Serbian forces killed 22 Bosniak civilians in June 1992. At the time, Adžić served as the President of the Crisis Headquarters.
Adžić’s name has appeared in numerous Hague Tribunal documents, including verdicts against Radovan Karadžić and Vojislav Šešelj. Despite substantial evidence and survivor testimonies, no charges have ever been filed against him. In 2016, the Humanitarian Law Center in Belgrade filed a criminal complaint against Adžić, providing over 50 pieces of evidence, but legal proceedings have yet to begin.
