Denver began preparations for the new NBA season a few days ago, and as part of training, the club decided to bring in real referees to simulate official game conditions. However, what the referees experienced after practice surprised them.
As soon as the scrimmage ended, Nikola Jokić approached the referees and spent the next 20 minutes talking with them. He went back over all the questionable situations that occurred during practice, and it is very possible he was also interested in some new rules ahead of the season.
One of the referees present was Mark Davis, whom Jokić remembers well because he often had disagreements with him during games, especially regarding foul calls.
American media claim that Jokić used the opportunity to ask him about what has changed in the rules and refereeing compared to last season.

Jokić is known for rarely getting contact calls, so it was clear that he wanted to receive feedback to know how to react in certain situations during games.
Although the referees expected to head home early after practice, Jokić’s approach showed them how seriously he takes his role as team leader.
“It’s not natural for me to talk a lot, but I will try. I will give my best to improve and be a better leader,” said Jokić.
